You wanted to start a business because who you worked for was using your great talent to their gain and did not offer you the renomination you deserved. You left them and let them be.
You have managed to scrape together a couple of rand, got the tools, equipment, skills for what you need to start offering real world people, real products or services for real money.
Alternatively you stumbled upon a business when you were doing your passion.
There are many ways an entrepreneur is made, the bottom line is now people want whatever you have to offer and are willing to pay, you now have a business.
They did not tell you that business came with it's own admin, and quite a lot of it. First someone wants a quote, not verbal as that really doesn't count but in a form of a document. What should be on a quote? Can you produce a quote that looks professional?. Then you need to invoice the client, what should be on a legal invoice? Can you easily produce an invoice that looks professional, legal and in the right format? The questions go on and on. You do not want the extra admin, as you are already replying to emails, asking calls, running around, but you realise without it you don't get paid. You go on and learn all the above in your spare time, learning as you need to but you do not know and probably are failing at it all because it's not your passion or what you got in business for.
We believe in bookkeeping simply because we know entrepreneurs have enough to worry about, like the turn around time of services, jobs for clients, buying supplies , etc. Having to deal with possible later on huge tax and vat penalties, legal implications, large bills from the accountants due to bad record keeping, should not be one of the entrepreneur's worries, at least not in the 21st century. We do not believe bookkeeping should be one of the entrepreneurs stresses. In addition when bookkeeping is done right it helps the entrepreneur make good and sound decisions based on real figures.
